Frame & Springs

One piece integral legs are standard on all frames where possible.

Frames are 5/4 inch solid kiln dried hardwood & hardwood laminates.

Double back rails are used for strength & durability.

Frame within a frame construction for strength & durability.

The frame is additionally reinforced by our proprietary “Comfort Flex” spring unit that’s made with Ľ” angle iron perimeter rails and utilizes 1” tubular stretchers front to back to eliminate squeaking & “twisting” of the frame.

Springs are tightly spaced 8.5 gauge sinuous wire that are attached to the angle iron perimeter relieving stress on the frame. The springs are then cross-tied across the deck for added support and comfort.

Sinuous wires are also used in the backs for support.

All rails are double doweled, glued and corner blocked, which insures that the frame will be structurally sound. |
Tailoring
Sebastian Adams uses a “four way match” - horizontally and vertically. We also match all outside arms and will “center match” all outside back panels (we will not seam backs to ensure match across the entire back). The inside of a Sebastian Adams frame is padded and double covered in various thickness of foam to add softness and comfort. All outside frame members are also carefully padded. These procedures give the furniture a good hand and aid in the prevention of wear and tear at the corners and stress points.
All frames are shipped in a full-length arm and base tray, padded and then enclosed in shrink-wrap to prevent any arm, skirt & lower frame damage in transit!
Cushions
Sebastian Adams has three different high quality cushions that can be referenced in the product details of each furniture piece. Should you want to upgrade to a different Cushion package, please contact Customer Service to discuss pricing for these upgrades.
STANDARD – FCC - SEAT CUSHIONS
The “Full Comfort Cushion” a.k.a. FCC was designed for the more traditionally minded. The FCC is simply that – Full Comfort. At the heart is a 1.8 density polyurethane core with a thermally bonded polyester fiber crown. The cushion is then generously wrapped and thermally bonded to another layer of more dense polyester fiber. This marriage of foam and fiber results in a fully filled, highly crowned cushion with excellent comfort, durability and a traditional appearance.
STANDARD – FIBER FILL - BACKS & ACCENT PILLOWS
Our 100% Fiber Fill back and accent pillows represent the pinnacle of fiber technology. It is a conjugated (corkscrew shaped) 100% polyester fiber approximately two inches long that has been siliconized. Each fiber is bathed in silicone, then crimped seven times per inch and finally combed out to its finished length. The fiber is then encased in a non-woven polyester envelope that is channeled for improved comfort and ease of maintenance. This process creates a finished product that behaves like thousands of tiny springs that has great conformity, is easily adjustable and provides extraordinary comfort.
BDC – SEAT CUSHIONS
The “Blend Down Cushion” a.k.a. BDC was designed for a casual yet luxurious appeal. To achieve this, we start with a 2.0 lb high-density foam core, which is then generously wrapped and thermally bonded to a thick layer of 2 oz. Polyester fiber. The entire cushion is then encased in a tightly woven envelope of high quality down proof ticking which is filled with a luxurious blend of down, feathers and conjugated fiber. The final product slowly yields the benefits of each of these materials layer by layer when sat in. The first level of comfort comes from the slow release of air from the down proof tick envelope. The second level comes from the crinkling sound and denser sit of the down proof tick against the outer cover. Lastly, you will feel the deep-seated plushness imparted by the pillow top of down, feathers and fiber followed by the firm support of the foam and fiber inner cushion.
BDB – BACKS & ACCENT PILLOWS
The BDB back and accent pillow option is the marriage of our 100% polyester Fiber Fill and feathers and down. It is a mixture of 95% Fiber Fill and 5% feathers and down enclosed in a 50% polyester and 50% cotton down proof casing. This combination of materials produces a denser cushion that releases air slowly and is highly adjustable and supportive. It also departs a rich crinkling sound and denser hand and sit similar to the BDC seat because of the added density of the down proof ticking next to the outer cover.
PLATINUM – SEAT & BACK CUSHION PACKAGE
Our “Platinum Cushioning” is exactly that, our top of the line premium cushioning. It is engineered to be used as a complete cushion package so the seats, backs and pillows all work in unison to yield that ultimate “in the lap of luxury” comfort. The foundation of the Platinum package is the seat cushion. We start with a 2.3 lb high density, high resilience foam core. The core is then surrounded by a specially designed blanket with a 100% cotton down proof exterior and filled with a mix of 50% regenerated fiber and 50% feathers and down. This mixture of premium fill brings together the optimum characteristics of each component to yield the perfect combination of comfort, support and softness. All of the feathers and down used go through a ten step Ultraclean™ process that results in a is re-manufactured from recycled post consumer containers and helps lessen the environmental footprint of the piece. Lastly, the outer blanket has special baffles or channels that are sewn in similar to a comforter or down jacket. These special channels allow the different areas of the cushion to be filled with different weight rations to give better comfort and support and also help keep the feathers, down and fiber evenly distributed.
The rest of the Platinum seating package utilizes the same premium fills used in the seats. The back cushions are made with the 50% regenerated fiber and 50% Ultraclean™ hypo allergenic feathers and down encased in the 100% cotton down proof exterior which is again channeled to give superior weight distribution, comfort and ease of up keep. The accent pillows are filled with 100% Ultraclean™ hypo allergenic feathers and down encased in the 100% cotton down proof exterior. The classic softness and conformity of these blends allow the cushions to be fluffed and adjusted to conform to the body and provide extraordinary support and comfort. |
